Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the best time of the year for cruising in Panama?
Cruising in our sun-drenched latitudes is enjoyable all year around. Our dry season, or “summer” as we call it, goes from January to May, while our green season goes from June to December. During our summer the sky is cloudless, the stars are magnificent and the sea breeze is constantly refreshing the atmosphere. During our green season the vegetation is exuberant and the ocean often as calm as a lake. While everyone loves our summer, connoisseurs and tropical rain forest bird and whale watchers actually prefer our green season, or whale mating season. We guarantee that no matter when you decide to cruise in our waters you will enjoy the experience regardless.
2) May we bring our own food and beverage aboard your charter yachts?
Yes, you are welcome to bring your own food and beverage; but if you wish, we can take care of the catering and provide you with estimates from different catering sources for you to choose from and take all the hassle away from you for your total enjoyment.
3) We wish to sail through the locks of the Panama Canal. Do you offer this option?
Unfortunately, the transit fees charged by the Panama Canal Authority are extremely high. As a result, we cannot compete with larger ships specializing in this kind of tours; however, for exclusive private groups, we are prepared to take you through the locks of Miraflores and Pedro Miguel on a partial transit, or all the way to Colon on a full transit of the Panama Canal. If you wish we can even take you beyond Colon to the Islands of San Blas (or Kuna Yala) and even to Cartagena, as well as to Bocas del Toro.
4) How can we secure the dates and the price of our charter vacation?
You may Contact Us to find out whether your chosen dates are available. After an agreement is reached, you will be asked to pay half of the price agreed upon in advance. This secures your reservation and the chosen dates. The balance must be paid in full before leaving our home port.
5) Do you accept payment by credit cards?
Regretfully, we are not affiliated to any credit card company; however, we accept personal checks to the order of Panama Yacht Club, or if you wish, you may make a wire transfer directly to our bank account. Alternatively, you may book your charter thru one of our authorized Tour Operators who accepts payment by credit cards.
6) What is your policy in regards to tips?
You will find Panamanians to be sincere and authentic people. Going after tips is not part of their culture. Your skipper and your steward will go all the way to serve you to the best of their ability without expecting any tip; but of course, if you are satisfied with their service and performance, they will be extremely grateful to receive a token of your appreciation. |
